Mia Haan

In the trio Agua e Vinho Mia plays the mandolin and the flute.

At first Mia took lessons from Mr. L. Gibbels for 8 years. After that she tried out different instruments, like the guitar and the violin. She also had classical singing lessons for a period of 4 years. For a while she was a banjo player in a dixieland orchestra. She teached several pupils. In 1987 she started playing the flute, for which she took 4 degrees. After 1994 she again took mandolin lessons for another 5 years, this time from Leoniek Hermans.

In all these years she played in several mandolin orchestras and of some of them she is still a member: mandolin orchestra Napoli Kerkrade, mandolin orchestra Edelweisz Meers, mandolin ensemble The Strings Stein and of course trio Agua e Vinho.

From time to time she stands in for the conductor of an orchestra, and regularly she is a visiting mandolin player in several orchestras, like for instance mandolin orchestra The Strings and mandolin orchestra Alpenklank Lemiers.
